XDSL ACCESS: Overview
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a modem technology that uses telephone lines to transport high-bandwidth data, such as multimedia and video. xDSL is a dedicated, point-to-point, public network access over twisted-pair copper wire. Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) technology allows more bandwidth.

Digital subscriber line (DSL) is a popular broadband technology for residential and SOHO subscribers. DSL will continue to grow as users demand higher bandwidth and multiservice access (voice/video/data). Customer premises equipment (CPE) manufacturers have responded to the growth of the DSL market by developing new generations of routers that enable users to connect computing and peripheral devices, such as desktop PCs, laptops, PDAs, printers and servers.
