DESKTOP/ SERVER HARDWARE: Overview
Desktop customers are downloading files in ever-increasing amounts as they build their libraries of information, songs, videos and photos, turning their computers into entertainment vehicles. This change in the way consumers use their computers will create demand for high-performing desktops. These desktops will need the ability to store large files quickly and efficiently while delivering crisp pictures and a clear sound for streaming videos and playing MP3 files. Business applications require convergence of audio/ video, data processing speeds and memory for effective video conferencing, e-learning, multimedia presentations and webcasts without having to compromise image quality. As components become smaller thermal management is crucial. HDDs need to store larger amounts of data without increase in size or cost. PCBs must be made lead free to reduce environmental damage.
