DRIVER WARNING SAFETY/ SECURITY: Overview
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS, are systems to help the driver in the driving process. When designed with a safe Human-Machine Interface, they increase both, car safety and road safety. Examples of such systems are: In-vehicle navigation system providing up-to-date traffic information; Adaptive Cruise Control; Lane/Road Departure Detection/warning system; Collision warning system; Intelligent Speed Advice or Intelligent Speed Adaptation; Night Vision; Adaptive Light Control; Pedestrian Protection System; Automatic parking. A host of sensors using light, radar, radio waves send information to microprocessors which control these systems.
